Hiking
Of course there are the tourist hikes on the north side of El Yunque. The rangers will guide you there; or just take the
well worn path on your own. But for the more adventurous, you go to the south side. The ones who really want to rough it stay
with Robin Philips (see Home page). Others, who like creature comforts after their jungle adventure, stay at Casa Cubuy or
Sierra Palms (all on 191 south). Robin has an all-day hike (for anyone) to a 100-foot waterfall. Of course, you can turn
back any time you want. Robin will give you all the knowledge of the fauna and flora as you go. There are a multitude of other
hikes along rivers etc. Just ask at Casa Cubuy; assuming you are staying there.

Petroglyph adventures (below)
My specialty. I am writing a book on them so I can show you some and answer all your questions. These can be basic adventures
or let the adrenaline fly. All right there on the south side. We can go to known glyphs or you can help me find new ones.

River hiking adventures (below)
I call this rock hopping. We climb up giant boulders, slide down giant boulders, swim pools, whatever it takes to get
up and down the river. Again, these can be basic or knee scraping adventurous. Do not wear shoes that have nontread slippery
soles.

Coqui/guaba adventures (below)
Here we will find and photograph the illusive coqui frogs, spiders, stick insects, and the leaf-sleeping lizards. We will
also try and find the very illusive guaba. The guaba is a whip spider that looks like a monster from outer space. To many,
it is the scariest thing they will ever see. Allegedly, the Tainos were deathly afraid of it. Typical size is the size of
your hand but they are said to get up to two feet. Once you see it, you will realize what guaba means: "What in the
hell is that?"

Romance adventure (below)
Here you can be alone without other tourists around. Go skinny dipping, make jungle love, whatever. Great for the newlyweds
and the romantic adventurers. For this adventure you need to be staying at Casa Cubuy or at Sierra Palms. Both are the best
places to stay in Puerto Rico and the prices are reasonable.

Elena's snorkeling adventure
No trip to Puerto Rico is complete without snorkeling in our fantastic water. Elena will get you off the well-worn beaten-down
tourist path and take you out in the ocean to a little island or two to where you are away from other tourists and get in
some great snorkeling. Anyone can take you snorkeling but only Elena can give you a snorkeling adventure.
